AgriTT(Agricultural Technology Transfer): AGRITT is an agricultural cooperation project involving tripartite cooperation between China, Britain, and Africa, which aims to better promote exchanges between China, Africa, and international development aid agencies, and promote China's agricultural technology promotion and dissemination of experience in Africa. The purpose is to help improve African agricultural technology and solve the difficulties and challenges facing African agriculture, so as to achieve food security and reduce poverty.
Of these, Uganda's cassava value chain is an important component: cassava is a key agricultural commodity in Uganda. It plays a vital role in food crops and is also highly promising as a raw material for industry and food processing.
The AgriTT project piloted the development of cassava value chains (production, processing, and value addition) in Uganda by demonstrating a range of innovative technologies and supporting knowledge sharing.

This pilot project was carried out in close cooperation with the Chinese Cassava Commodity Development System, in particular with the Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences and Guangxi University. The project was supported by seven Chinese technical assistance experts, including five cassava mechanized production experts(CEO of TAGRM, Mr. Chen is one of them) and two value chain experts.
Mechanized production and improved crop management:
●The project demonstrates the mechanized production of cassava, using Used a complete planting equipment provided by TAGRM, and eight demonstration gardens have been established. More than 90 farmers and district officials embraced mechanized planting and harvesting and received training;
● Established 37 nurseries for improved, disease-resistant cassava cuttings;
●Farmers were trained in raised-field cassava production and other good agricultural practices.
Project achievement:
The yield of the demonstration garden is between 36-47 tons/ha, which has increased by 3 times compared with the previous yield of the same area using traditional production techniques times.
The adoption and application of recommended agronomic practices (such as timely weed control and disease management) increased cassava yields in the project area.
