3 common planting methods for cassava

2022 12/07

Method 1:

Dig a hole or ditch about 5 to 8 cm, lay the stem flat, and bury it shallowly with soil. It can be placed flat to form tubers all around, and it is easy to harvest when it is shallow. This method is often used in production. It takes a little longer to germinate and unearth, which is convenient for mechanical planting, and the harvest is relatively simple.

Method 2:

Direct insertion is to insert the stem vertically into the soil, with 1/3 of the stem exposed to the surface soil or fully buried in the soil, the seedlings of the direct insertion are early and uniform, there are many tubers, and the soil is deep, and the drought and wind resistance are strong, but The size of the potato pieces is uneven, it takes a lot of labor to plant, and it is difficult to harvest, so it is rarely used in large-scale production.

Method 3:

Oblique insertion is to plant the stem at an angle of 15°~45° in the planting hole or ditch. 1/3 of the stem is exposed to the surface soil or completely buried in the soil. The oblique insertion has fast seedling emergence and a high emergence rate, which can ensure full Seedlings and tubers usually stretch in one direction. This method is mostly used for ridge planting, which is convenient for mechanized harvesting, but has poor wind resistance.
